In May of 2019, lamas and disciples gathered from around the world in Sonada Monastery to commemorate the thirtieth anniversary of Kyabje Kalu Rinpoche’s parinirvana. The services began with the construction May 1 to 3 of the sand mandala for the Gyu De Lha Nga, or Five Tantras Deities, which sadhana was performed May 4 through 7. On May 8 and 9, the Shangpa Aspiration Prayer was performed continuously , and on May 10 a full day Lama Chopa, Guru Yoga, was performed, followed by a candlelight marme service in the evening. The book Lord of the Siddhas was blessed in the main shrineroom on May 10 and presented to the lamas of Sonada Monastery and those who had come from around the world. On May 11, the sand from the mandala was carried in a procession into the forest above the monastery to a spring that is the main water source for the monastery. There the sand was dispersed into the flowing stream to carry its blessings to all beings.
